Come and enjoy an evening of music, drama and song in the Burnavon Arts and Cultural Centre Cookstown in Northern Ireland on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th April 2010, when the Tamlaghtmore Silver Band and the Agape Dramatic Society present the story of John Newton and ‘Amazing Grace,’ in the form of an original musical presentation entitled ‘Sounds of the Sea.’

Life on an 18th century slave ship was far from plain sailing yet at the tender age of eleven John accompanied his father on long voyages to Africa. Influenced by bad company he gradually became one of the most immoral, foul-mouthed sailors on board. But God had plans for his life! In 1748 a violent storm forced him to beg for mercy and forgiveness. Long after his conversion he never ceased to wonder at God’s Amazing grace in saving ‘a wretch’ like him.
