A 40 foot container left Bury St Edmunds in August 2011, bound for Bobo Dioulasso. It is full of equipment that will enable the medical centre to be resourced effectively to carry out its mission. After going by sea to Ghana and negotiating customs in Accra, it was picked up by lorry to cross the Ghana/ Burkina Faso border.
In early October it reached our project in Bobo. The last few miles to the medical centre were the worst, taking a whole day as the truck repeatedly got stuck in the sandy roads.
Our thanks to Bill, Phil and Philip for helping guide us through the mountains of paperwork and necessary forms that had to be completed. Aid to Hospitals Worldwide have helped us fill the container with equipment and we are grateful to them for their help and expertise.
A group travelled from the UK in November to unpack the container and set up the systems in the medical centre.
