Sponsored child in Uganda
Meet Ruth...
Ruth is 7 years old. She has 5 siblings and they all live with their grandmother. When we visited Ruth's home in Buikwe, Uganda, her grandmother was at the hospital with a sick child, so Ruth and her other siblings were being looked after by her 16yr old brother (pictured below).
Ruth and her brothers and sisters all sleep on the floor in the tiny room that you see below. Life is often tough for Ruth and her family, not having much money to support their living costs.
But there is hope for Ruth and her family as Ruth is now being sponsored to go to school through our sponsorship programme. This means that her sponsor provides for her education, her uniform, 2 meals each day at school and basic medical care. This is not just of immediate benefit to Ruth, it is giving her the opportunity of the education she so desperately needs in order to help her and her family out of the cycle of poverty that they have been trapped in.
Ruth tells us that when she grows up, she would like to be a tailor, and earn a living to support herself and her family.
You can help make an incredible impact on the life of a child like Ruth, yet this would only cost 55 pence per day. For more information on how to sponsor a child click here.
